The workshop is led by conservation consultant and stonemason Tom Pollard and combines short, accessible explanations with hands-on practical work, drawing directly on examples at Knockelly as a working conservation site.

Who this workshop is for: anyone who is planning repairs to, or is maintaining an older / traditional building, but has limited experience working with lime mortars. It is also suitable for DIYers and those with a general interest in traditional building skills. No previous experience is required, just an interest in learning and a willingness to get your hands dirty.

Who this workshop in not for: professional tradespeople, or those who have an in-depth knowledge of lime mortars. For those with advanced experience, a specialist workshop will be offered separately. Please join our mailing list to find out more. 

What is included: expert tuition, all tools and materials, morning tea / coffee and a homemade organic vegetarian lunch.

The workshop starts at 9am and concludes at 4pm.

Places are limited. Booking is essential.

To ensure an interactive, learning environment and to tailor the course for those attending, a maximum of 10 attendees will be permitted at each workshop.

Please note that Knockelly is a working conservation site with uneven ground. A short safety briefing will be given at the start of the day.
